FILM Locos:
Film Locos, under the leadership of Actor Victor Rios, is a production company committed to promoting representation for the British Latin American community, both in front of and behind the camera. Their content transcends cultural boundaries, inviting everyone to partake in narratives that challenge victimization and stereotypes, while igniting thoughtful discussions through thought-provoking films. Today, Film Locos thrives as a hub of diversity, fostering a vibrant community of filmmakers. They pioneer opportunities and shatter barriers through collaborative projects, infusing a unique and spirited energy on set. Moreover, their network events serve as a platform to showcase the daring work of these filmmakers who venture into the wild terrain of storytelling, embracing their ‘Loco’ spirit.
Cinema Mentiré is a pop-up film club created and programmed by Amina Ferley Yael, Marta Calderón Quiñones and Natalia Christofoletti Barrenha. Founded in London in 2023 out of a need to showcase real and underrepresented Latin American voices in both contemporary and classical cinema, it aims to challenge the stereotypes and conventions associated with the region by screening independent films, many of which have never been shown in the UK. The initiative has organised screenings at various cinemas and alternative venues across London, including Ciné Lumière, ICA, The Cinema Museum, and The Garden Cinema. It has also collaborated with institutions, film festivals, and independent collectives such as V&A East, QUEERCIRCLE, London Short Film Festival, Cinema Rediscovered, CASA Presents, Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest, Cine Brazil, and Romancero Books, among others.
